A warm welcome to our new Trustees!

It is the UK Trustees’ Week and we would like to take the opportunity to thank our Trustees for the knowledge and dedication that they bring to The Camphill Foundation UK & Ireland. Our work wouldn’t be possible without their invaluable input.

We would also like to give a very warm welcome to our two new Trustees, Sofie Rasmussen and Richard MacBeth, who have recently joined our team.

Our Trustees play an important role in the strategic development of The Camphill Foundation UK & Ireland and increase the capacity of our work, which in turn, positively impacts the lives of many vulnerable people with learning disabilities and extra support needs.

Our team of Trustees comprises a management committee of three Director Trustees, in addition to our, now eight, Trustees who help to inform and guide the decision-making process.

Introducing Sofie…

Sofie has been actively involved with organisations informed by Rudolf Steiner’s insights for the past 30 years. This has provided her with rich experiences of learning from children, adolescents, and adults with learning difficulties and inspiring personalities through living and working with them. She is passionate about exploring and facilitating ways in which individuals can be supported in achieving true autonomy and experience themselves as valued members of diverse and inclusive communities. Her journey has included developing staff training programmes to facilitate this and also lead teams in turning theory and aspirations into practice.

In her own time, Sofie prioritises and values spending time with her children and grandchild and nourishing herself by spending time in nature – mainly in Scotland, England or Denmark which are the countries in which she considers herself at home!

Introducing Richard…

Unlike most of the Trustees, Richard grew up in a very conventional household. After marrying his wife in 1990, they decided that they wanted a different lifestyle. They became house parents at Cotswold Chine Home School, a Steiner inspired residential special needs school. After 9 years, Richard moved on to become Head of Care at Ruskin Mill College, a residential Steiner inspired special needs college. He is now the Head of IT.

Richard loves the outdoors and likes to spend time in mountains and on water. He is also involved in managing community woodlands.

We are very pleased to have Sofie and Richard on board and we are looking forward to working together to achieve our objectives.
