Bristol Waldorf School, an independent, co-educational day school founded in 1973, has long been a pillar of holistic education in Bristol. Following the Steiner Waldorf educational philosophy, the school fosters intellectual, artistic, and practical skills through a child-centred, developmentally appropriate, approach to learning.
Facing financial challenges, the school faced an uncertain future when it entered administration in December 2023, yet what followed was an extraordinary display of resilience, dedication, and community spirit. Parents and supporters launched an ambitious campaign to raise the necessary funds to bring the school out of administration and their efforts were met with overwhelming generosity, with nearly £1 million secured through loans and donations.
The Camphill Foundation UK & Ireland is proud to support the future of the school and has granted £10,000 which will be used to support essential upgrades to the school building. This funding will contribute to necessary renovations, ensuring a safe and inspiring learning environment for students.
Beyond building improvements, the funds raised will be used to renovate the school’s gardens, creating more outdoor learning opportunities, and laying the groundwork for an exciting expansion – the establishment of a middle school for Years 7-9.
Bristol Waldorf School’s revival is a testament to the power of community action and the deep value placed on alternative, holistic education. We wish them all the very best with their renovations and look forward to seeing their progress in the months to come.
