Három Galamb Day Centre, Romania | Update

Három Galamb, a training centre in Romania, which supports vulnerable young adults by offering meaningful work and social care, is reaching an exciting milestone with the development of its new purpose-built Day Centre.

The Camphill Foundation UK & Ireland supported the early stages of this project in 2020/2021 by providing seed funding of £8,063 for an architectural design brief. This initial grant was an important first step towards Három Galamb’s long-term objective of creating a dedicated day service for young adults with learning disabilities in Romania, where provision such as this, remains limited.

In their Autumn 2025 newsletter, Három Galamb was delighted to share the significant progress on the new building, which is expected to be completed by Spring 2026. Designed specifically to meet the needs of its participants, the Day Centre is described as spacious, bright, and well suited to the work of the community. The carefully planned facility includes activity rooms, a kitchen, social spaces, and therapy rooms, and will be able to support up to 30 young adults with special needs, alongside their co-worker carers.

Furnishing the new building is already underway, with generous support from across the wider Camphill movement. Thanks to the Camphill Foundation UK & Ireland; Alice and Gerrit Westerveld from the Netherlands; and support from Scotland, many essential items have been collected and transported to Romania.

The official opening of the Day Centre will take place on 14 & 15 May 2026, marked by a two-day event that will include:

  • A series of lectures on topical themes such as inclusion and communication
  • Creative learning workshops, including social painting, folk dancing and eurythmy, music therapy, and crafts
  • The formal opening of the new building

Thank you for your interest in Három Galamb. 2026 will be our year of growth and change, ensuring that even more young people in Romania, through Három Galamb’s day centre service can: enjoy more enriching lives, unfold their potential and become more active citizens.”
